Saturday, March 4,  9 am  Hike Caloosahatchee Creek Preserve – East, 10130 Bayshore Rd. N. Ft. Myers, FL 33917  Walk the full East River Loop Trail 3 1/2 – 4 miles.  Bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, sunglasses, snack (shoes may get wet).  Pets permitted in the park on leash.  Public invited, limit 12 people, leisure.  RSVP Sharon 239-357-4418  sharonsuhar@yahoo.com  

 Sunday, March 5,   9:30 am  Hike Hikey’s Creek Preserve   17980 Palm Bch Blvd., Alva,Fl.   Hike through palmetto, oak scrub, pine flatlands and seasonal wetlands.  There is a nice overlook to view the surrounding area about half way.  This is also a support area for the endangered Scrub Bluejay and land tortoises.  Public invited.  Limit: 20 people.  Leisure.

Saturday, March 11, 8:45 am to noon.  Hike CREW Marsh Trails, 4600 CR 850 (Corkscrew Road), Immokalee, FL  34142. Leisure to moderate four mile hike.  Public invited, limit of 12 people.  Hike the Pine Flatwoods, Hammock and Pop Ash Slough trails.  Stop at the Seasonal Pond and Observation Tower to view the 5,000 acre marsh.  At tis time of year, the trails are expected to be dry.  Bring water, sunscreen, bug repelland and a hat.  Meet at the Marsh Trails trailhead on Corkscrew Road, approximately 18 miles east of I-75 (exit 123).  Look for the brown “CREW Marsh Trails” sign (4 miles beyond the brown “CREW Cypress Dome Trails” sign).  Arrive by 8:45 am, the hike will depart at 9:00 am sharp.  Learn more about CREW@ www.crewtrust.org.  RSVP: Len at: lenhannas@gmail.com 

Sunday, March 12, 8:30 am Hike Estero Bay Preserve, 4940 West Broadway, Estero, FL  off US 41 in Estero.  Leisure hike through scrub flatwoods and muddy salt flats;  observe gopher tortoises, fiddler crabs, sea purslane, mangroves, wild flowers and the Estero River.  Wear old sneakers, bring water, sunscreen, hat and a snack. Meet at 8:30 am in parking lot at end of West Broadway.  Directions: I-75 to exit 123 – Corkscrew Road.  Turn onto Corkscrew, drive to light on 41 turn right, take a left turn at next light West Broadway and drive to parking lot.  Public invited. Thursday, March 16,  Monthly Alligator Amblers Meeting   Social: 6:30 PM    Meeting 7:00 PM   New Meeting Location:  Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 15600 Tamiami Trail North, Naples, FL 34110.  Member Patty Huff will give us an update on the status of the River of Grass Greenway including some recently completed bike lanes on US 41 East.

Saturday, March 18, 9 am to Sunday, March 19, 3 pm.  Bicycling and/or Camping.  Bear Island Campground in Big Cypress National Preserve (GPS Coordinates 26.182746 – 81.247637    Camping and/or off-road cycling.  Drive or bicycle to Bear Island campground.  Cyclists can leave their cars at SR 29 entrance to Big Cypress at GPS Coordinates 26*13’5.65″N, 81*20’40.84″W and bike 6.1 miles to campground over a well-maintained access road.  The activity leader will deliver packs, tents, camping gear and food to campsite if delivered to him before the event.  Drivers need to drive 20 miles north from US 41 on Turner River Road over a dusty dirt road.  After arriving at campsite and setting up tents, cyclists can ride over off-road trails in the preserve.  Campers who are not cyclists can walk around the area and enjoy the scenery.  Public invited, Limit 12 people/12 tents, Moderate difficulty.  RSVP Carl 239-393-2275 carl@tenthousandislands.net  or Chuck 239-398-3820  flswampeagle@aol.com

Saturday, March 25, Guided Hike, The Nancy Payton Preserve, a 75-acrew Conservation Collier property near Golden Gate City.  An approximately 2 mile hike on trails within the Nancy Payton Preserve, Habitats and birds will be the focus.  Public invited.  Limit 15 people.  Moderate difficulty (no restroom or water available on site).  RSVP  Alexandra  239-262-2960  asulecki12@gmail.com

Sunday, March 26, Trail Maintenance along Florida Trail,  Mile Marker 63 off I-75 on south side.  SE corner of the large new (mostly unused) parking lot.  We will trim vegetation along the Florida Trail using loppers.  Refresh orange blazes when needed.  Must be able to hike 6 miles.  We will have the tools, you bring three bottles of water and your lunch and snacks.  Public invited.
